Hi, my name is Jodi and I'm the creator behind The Neighborgoods, based in Washington DC. Our products are inspired by the beauty of food and how it brings people together – whether through baking cupcakes, making homemade jams, or sharing a love of beets. When my goods bring a smile to someone's face or when a customer can find the perfect gift for their pickle loving friend, it makes my day and is why I keep creating our fun, foodie-themed products.
The Neighborgoods has been my side hustle for the past 4 years while I also ran a graphic design and illustration business. I started my design business 12 years ago and over the years I worked on a little bit of everything trying to find my niche and what I loved best. It evolved to finding food to be my strongest passion and so I combined my love of design and illustration to work on food packaging and branding. When I made that switch I didn't have any clients in the food industry and needed some work for my portfolio, so I began illustrating recipes to put on my website. I thought these personal family recipes would make great gifts printed on dish towels for the holidays so I bought a bunch of dish towels, signed up for a screen printing class and The Neighborgoods was born. I have since expanded my line to include baby onesies, greeting cards, art prints, aprons, and buttons with plans to keep growing and creating more foodie themed gifts for all occasions.
I now run The Neighborgoods as my full time business and am doing illustration work on the side through The Neighborgoods Studio. It feels so great to be able to create such fun products that I love and to share them with all of you.
